A little Autism Awareness

I have full custody of my kids. I am autistic. So are they. My daughter is also a diabetic. Myself and my son are on medications. If we don't take them, I've been threatened that they will be taken away from me. I am on Invega(anti-psychotic) and Cymbalta(anti-depressant) My son is on Prozac and Clonidine. Here is a little of a conversation I had with someone about autism and meds and my situation....Enjoy♥

This guys sounds like he was given an ultimantim. Get hospitalization or take Invega.
In the summary section of the intake assessment, Dr. Billett observed that Lindsey reported having experienced those symptoms for "a long time" but also reported "not having previous psychiatric treatment." His diagnosis was "Major Depression with Psychotic Features R/O [rule out] Schizo affective Disorder."[6] Dr. Billett recommended hospitalization, but Lindsey refused. The report states that Lindsey was prescribed Invega and Zoloft and "the risks vs benefits" were explained to him and he "understands and agrees to medication." A consumer medication form listed Zoloft, Invega, and Prozac as Lindsey's prescribed medications.

A number of harmful and undesired (adverse) effects have been observed, including lowered life expectancy, weight gain, enlarged breasts and milk discharge in men and women (hyperprolactinaemia), lowered white blood cell count (agranulocytosis), involuntary repetitive body movements (tardive dyskinesia), diabetes, an inability to sit still or remain motionless (akathisia), sexual dysfunction, a return of psychosis requiring increasing the dosage due to cells producing more neurochemicals to compensate for the drugs (tardive psychosis), and a potential for permanent chemical dependence leading to psychosis much worse than before treatment began, if the drug dosage is ever lowered or stopped (tardive dysphrenia).[citation needed]

Temporary withdrawal symptoms including insomnia, agitation, psychosis, and motor disorders may occur during dosage reduction of antipsychotics, and can be mistaken for a return of the underlying condition.[1][2]

I can't solve your medical issues for you but it's possible the drugs could be making things worse. I'm not a doctor. In your situation, it would be difficult to change things. Think solutions.

For my son I worry about the drugs making his anger problems worse, for me I worry more about the medical effects, the serious ones, I've had ticks and a shot of benedryl took care of it, they are very painful, at least mine were on my face, i'm hoping to not develop them again later but if I do right away I'm going to the doctor, but the diabetes is an issue, my daughter has it, my dad has it so I'm prone to it and the meds increase that risk, the problems with my liver, etc, my kids are gonna need me for a LONG time and you're right, you can't help with my medical issues, I was born with autism, so were my kids, or we were vaccine injured either way you want to look at it, and that's never gonna go away. We can get better, we can learn how to pretend to fit in to make it easier and less noticable, but it's never going away. I'll always have digestive problems, I'll continue to struggle with my coordination, I'll be annoying to people by being repetitive or odd, or some other autistic trait they don't like, I'll have my phobia's, my anxiety and depression issues, my sensory issues, and the misjudgement and misunderstandings that go both ways and cause problems, my kids will be the same too, we'll always be Autistic and Proud!♥ What I really need is a WELL educated and experienced advocate or lawyer who deals with autism to help me feel more free than what I do right now. More safe in my own home. That's what I need help with, put the word out! Find me one LOL, they don't exist in southern LA!
